Equipment for hydrogen

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, form up to 75% of the material, based on mass, and more than 90%, based on the number of atoms. This element is found mainly in stars and gas giants. With regard to its abundance general, hydrogen is very rare in Earth's atmosphere (1 ppm) and practically non-existent as H2 on the surface and in the subsurface. Jupiter and Saturn are composed of about 80% hydrogen, the Sun by 90%. 

On Earth, on the other hand, only 1% of the gas is hydrogen. The most common source of this element is water, which is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen (H2O). Other sources are: Most of the organic matter (which includes all known forms of life), icombustibili fossil fuels and natural gas. The methane (CH4), which is a byproduct of organic decomposition, is becoming an increasingly important source of hydrogen 

There is much talk of hydrogen as a possible energy source for automobiles. The use of H2 would have the advantage of using fossil fuels to directly obtain the gas (starting from methane, for example). The H2 then used as fuel in transport, reacting with O2, as would only waste product from the water, completely eliminating CO2 emissions and climate and environmental problems associated with them. 

Use the dihydrogen as fuel has several advantages. Burns in the air when its concentration is comprised between 4 and 75% of its volume, while natural gas burns at concentrations between 5.4 and 15%. The spontaneous combustion temperature is 585 ° C, while that of natural gas is 540 ° C. Natural gas explodes at concentrations ranging between 6.3 and 14%, while the dihydrogen concentration requires 13-64%.
