EK220 is a battery powered volume converter. The device detects low-frequency pulses of the measured gas volume under operating conditions from a gas meter. Measures the pressure and operating temperature of the gas, calculates the compressibility coefficient K and the conversion factor C.
Using these initial data, it is possible to calculate gas volumes at standard conditions, flow rates at standard conditions and flow rates at operating conditions.
The volume converter consists of a central unit equipped with an integrated or external pressure sensor and a temperature sensor.
The sensors are permanently connected to the unit. The compressibility coefficient K can be programmed as a fixed value for all gases or calculated according to various methods.
Thanks to the four digital outputs, the flexibility of the data logging function in addition to the freely configurable serial interface and the availability of different communication protocols, EK220 can be used for various applications in the field of natural gas metering and station monitoring .
Additional components for data retransmission and explosion-proof isolation of the interfaces and external intrinsically safe power supply expand the range of possible uses of the converter.
In addition to the conversion of gas volumes and data logging, the EK220 can be used for the flexible recording of various measured values and, in combination with a modem or a remote data transmission unit (RTU), for system monitoring.
The device is equipped with two additional digital inputs, which can be used to register and monitor signaling sensors, such as the safety shut-off valves of the pressure regulators and the differential pressure switches of the filters, or for a simple door contact. The signals emitted by these sensors can be saved as an event in an archive and automatically retransmitted as a text message or e-mail via a connected modem.
Optionally, the volume converter can be equipped with a second external pressure sensor which enables the pressure entering or leaving the measuring system to be recorded or its limit values monitored.
